# Appearance & Rarity

> How your Gotchipus looks and what determines its rarity

## Appearance

Your Gotchipus's visual identity is determined at the moment of summoning through two sources:

### Your Choices

During summoning, you select visual traits for your Gotchipus:

* **Background** — the environment behind your companion
* **Body** — physical form, color, and shape
* **Eyes** — eye style and expression

These choices are yours — they reflect your aesthetic preference and make your Gotchipus personally meaningful.

### Random Traits

Beyond your selections, additional visual traits are randomly generated during summoning using on-chain randomness. These random elements ensure that even Gotchipus with the same chosen traits look distinct from each other.

The combination of player choice and randomness means every Gotchipus is visually unique.

## Rarity

Your Gotchipus's rarity is determined randomly at summoning and has a direct impact on its power and long-term growth potential:

| Rarity        | Chance | Base Attribute Points |
| ------------- | ------ | --------------------- |
| **Common**    | 60%    | 1,200                 |
| **Rare**      | 25%    | 1,500                 |
| **Epic**      | 12%    | 1,800                 |
| **Legendary** | 3%     | 2,200                 |

Rarity affects:

* **Starting stats** — higher rarity means more base attribute points across STR, DEF, INT, VIT, AGI, LUK
* **Skill point growth** — rarity bonus points are awarded every 10 levels (see [Growth System](/the-gotchipus/growth))
* **Long-term ceiling** — over hundreds of levels, the gap between Common and Legendary widens significantly

<Note>
  Rarity cannot be changed after summoning. It is a permanent property of your Gotchipus.
</Note>

## Pity System

To ensure fairness, a **pity system** guarantees higher-rarity results after consecutive lower-tier summons:

| Guarantee      | Trigger                                    |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Rare or better | After 15 consecutive non-rare summons      |
| Epic or better | After 30 consecutive non-epic summons      |
| Legendary      | After 60 consecutive non-legendary summons |

This means every player will eventually obtain higher-rarity Gotchipus, regardless of luck.

## Wearable Customization

After summoning, the primary way to change your Gotchipus's appearance is through [Wearables](/the-gotchipus/wearables). Equipping gear modifies both your Gotchipus's look and its stats — letting you express your style while building strategic power.
