# Caring

> Keep your Gotchipus alive — daily interaction matters

## Your Gotchipus Needs You

Unlike static NFTs, your Gotchipus is a living entity with four dynamic states that decay in real time. Without your care, it deteriorates. With consistent attention, it thrives.

## Petting

The **pet** action is currently the primary way to care for your Gotchipus:

| Effect | Value |
| ----------------- | ------------ |
| Health restored | +10 |
| Energy restored | +10 |
| Morale restored | +10 |
| Focus restored | +10 |
| Experience gained | +10 XP |
| Mood change | → Happy |
| **Cooldown** | **24 hours** |

You can pet your Gotchipus once per day. This simple daily ritual is the foundation of the care loop — it keeps your Gotchipus healthy and generates experience for leveling.

## Mood

Your Gotchipus's mood reflects its overall well-being:

| Mood | What It Means |
| ----------- | -------------------------------- |
| **Happy** | Recently cared for, high states |
| **Excited** | High energy and morale |
| **Focused** | High focus, moderate energy |
| **Tired** | Low energy |
| **Sad** | Low morale |
| **Resting** | Very low states, self-recovering |

Mood is visible in the UI and influences how your Gotchipus behaves in the [AI Terminal](/ai-and-autonomy/terminal).

## Care Philosophy

The care system is designed to reward **consistency over intensity**:

* You can't "binge care" your Gotchipus — one pet per day, no more
* Missing a day isn't catastrophic — states drop but don't cause permanent damage
* Long-term neglect has consequences — states can reach zero
* Automation through [Hooks](/ai-and-autonomy/hooks) and [Sessions](/ai-and-autonomy/sessions-and-security) can help maintain your Gotchipus when you're away

Your Gotchipus is a companion, not a chore. The care system is meant to create a genuine sense of bond through regular, low-effort interaction.
